How it Works

Objective Analysis, Not Subjective AI.

How We Analyze Your Mix

We don’t just guess. We measure your audio against the same standards used by Spotify, Apple Music, and professional mastering engineers.

1. It Happens in Your Browser (100% Private)

Most online tools require you to upload your song to a server, which takes time and risks your intellectual property. CheckMyMix is different.

We use advanced Web Audio API technology to analyze your file directly on your device. Your audio data never leaves your computer. It is processed instantly and remains 100% private.

The 3 Key Metrics We Measure

1. Integrated LUFS (Perceived Loudness)

  • What it is: Unlike “Peak” volume (which measures the loudest split-second), LUFS measures how loud a human ear perceives the song over the entire track.
  • Why it matters: Spotify normalizes audio to -14 LUFS. If your track is too quiet (e.g., -20 LUFS), it will sound weak compared to other songs. If it’s too loud (e.g., -4 LUFS), streaming services will turn it down significantly, often making it sound flat and lifeless.

2. True Peak (Distortion Safety)

  • What it is: A standard digital meter might show your song hitting 0dB, but the analog wave can actually go higher “between” the digital samples.
  • Why it matters: When Spotify converts your WAV file to MP3 or OGG, these hidden peaks can cause ugly distortion. We check that your True Peak is below -1.0 dB to ensure your song survives the conversion process cleanly.

3. Crest Factor (Dynamic Range)

  • What it is: This measures the difference between the average volume and the peak volume. It tells us if your mix is “breathing” or if it is a “sausage” waveform.
  • Why it matters: If your Crest Factor is too low (below 6dB), your song lacks punch and impact. If it’s too high, it may sound unglued. We help you find the sweet spot for modern genres.

Your “Streaming Readiness” Score

We combine these metrics into a simple score out of 100:

  • 90+ (Commercial Ready): Your track competes with top-tier professional masters.
  • 70–89 (Streaming Ready): Safe for Spotify and Apple Music without risk of penalty or distortion.
  • < 70 (Needs Adjustments): We will provide specific tips (e.g., “Lower your limiter ceiling by 1dB”) to help you improve.
